Mechanical Ventilation Masterclass

Course Description: This comprehensive course provides prehospital care providers with the essential knowledge and skills for managing ventilators in emergency and transport settings. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of transport ventilators, including their operation, key terminology, and the various modes of ventilation. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing and responding to ventilator alarms, interpreting waveform analysis, and assessing patient status to ensure optimal respiratory support.

The course also covers evidence-based strategies for managing common respiratory pathologies such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, asthma, and respiratory failure. Through case studies and hands-on training, participants will learn how to adapt ventilator settings, troubleshoot issues, and make critical decisions that improve patient outcomes during transport. By the end of the course, providers will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to manage ventilators effectively in prehospital environments.
